These photographs, part of a group taken over 35 years in Afro-Ecuadorian communities by Juan Garcia Salazar and Edizon Leon, form part of the holdings of the Fondo Documental Afro-Andean of the Universidad Andina Simon Bolivar, in Ecuador. The Afro-Andean Fondo’s primary concern in to build and maintain a political affiliation with collective visual and oral memories which are considered the most important legacy we have as Black Peoples in Ecuador and the Andean Region.
